Josh Kaye, the founder of Baklava Express is considered “the greatest rhythm player in New York City,” and he self-describes as “a big metal head”. If you’re now wondering where would this London-born Jazz professional guitar player take the sound of Oud, then you are in for a pleasant surprise on this show. 

Baklava Express is a NYC-based Middle Eastern fusion project led by Oud player and composer Josh Kaye. The band performs original music influenced by the traditions of the Arab world, Turkey, Armenia, and Greece, as well as Klezmer, and Eastern European Folk music. 

The eclectic influences and vast differences in the musical backgrounds of its members have created a group whose style is distinct yet genre-defiant.
